25 Tips to Renew and Refresh for the New Moon

Foraged Greens Spring Equinox Mandala
I recently enjoyed a great evening hosting a local Spring Equinox Herbal Workshop, where we explored holistic methods and healing remedies for renewal, sampling freshly foraged herbal recipes to prepare and energise ourselves for the new season.

I'd like to share with you here in my Nourish & Flourish community some of the ideas for new moon rituals that we discussed to help us all kickstart into a new cycle feeling vibrant, refreshed and full of energy.

The methods below are all great to help you kickstart into a new season. To create your own new moon rituals, pick 5 tips that appeal to you most and schedule the time to do them in your diary in the next week.

New Moon Equinox Solar Eclipse Herbal Tarot Reading

New Moon Equinox Eclipse Herbal Tarot Reading

Happy Equinox! Welcome to your new moon herbal tarot reading this month.

It's a special day indeed with the solar eclipse that was visible in some parts of the world. It was a partial eclipse here in Edinburgh. I'm just back in from watching it out in the park with my hubby and other new moon eclipse revellers, just magical.

I hope you enjoy your complimentary one card herbal tarot reading to help you focus your intentions for the cycle ahead and celebrating the Equinox, Solar Eclipse & New Moon in Pisces.

I'm using the Shadowscapes Tarot again, I just love this pack. It seems appropriate after a morning appearing as an evening, and playing in the park with the shadows of the sun and moon.

I recently received a special new pack of tarot cards on my birthday recently so will be getting to know those in the next month and share those with you at the next new moon :)

On to your reading...

********

Take a moment to relax and
sit comfortably where you are...

Inhale a few deep breaths into
your heart, closing your eyes...

Allow your intention for the
next lunar cycle to come to mind...

Ask for any guidance that would be
supportive for you to receive right now...

When you're ready, open your eyes...

Choose a card, then click on the number of the card you feel most drawn to:

New Moon Equinox Solar Eclipse Herbal Tarot Card 1

New Moon Equinox Solar Eclipse Herbal Tarot Reading

You chose Card No 1 ~ 7 of Wands

A fox protects her loved ones from the threat of an unwanted intruder. Tempers are raised. Feelings of fear and defensiveness spark the animal instinct to fight for what is dear to our hearts. The circle and flow between the 2 creatures show that although they have their differences, they also share characteristics, one feeds the other.

In some situations, we are forced to defend ourselves to protect what is precious to us but devastating conflict can occur when we forget that the other is also just trying to survive using the best means it knows. In life, conflicts of interests and opinion will occur, temperaments clash.

Wands represents the fire element symbolising action, energy, instinct. In this image, the wands are scattered at harsh angles, representing the chaos that can be unleashed by uncontrolled reactions. Escalated emotions may lead to regret and suffering. Is there a more skillful way of responding to prevent such unpleasant interactions, or to disengage when they do occur?

In challenging situations, we may tend to react on instinct and habit as our triggers for survival are pressed, however, it also presents an opportunity to tap into a greater awareness to transform a difficult situation into more positive outcome. Although it may feel stressful, there is a chance to grow in wisdom and ability to relate by taking a more considered new approach.

The other side of the conflict suffers too and even if it is not resolved harmoniously this time, it can invite the creation of space for reflection, to gain perspective, and opening the heart to allow a new way to communicate to help shift a disagreement towards a more positive and unexpected outcome. Using the same methods will bring you the same results you have always got, next time try a new approach and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Do be kind to yourself. Old habits die hard. With a strong intention to develop love and compassion towards yourself and others, rigid or stuck thinking and beliefs may soften and allow for a healing transformation. Out of suffering and pain, awareness and kindness can lead to a profound experience of love and compassion.

A Herbal Remedy to Soothe Angry Hurts and Upset
~ Rose Petals ~

The beautiful soft nurturing rose flower inspires gentleness, self care and helps cool the inflammation of flared emotions. A whole range of emotions can accompany a disagreement, frustration, rage, despair, regret, sorrow. Rose petals in our herbal teas, drinks and foods remind us to be kind to ourselves and others. It can support you in eventually breaking a cycle that can only bring pain.

The rose scent in oils and creams can be applied to the skin, pulse points and rubbed into the chest and heart areas to provide nurturing and uplifting balm of love and support.

New Moon Equinox Solar Eclipse Herbal Tarot Card 2

New Moon Equinox Solar Eclipse Herbal Tarot Reading

You chose XI Justice

In this card a black and white winged female figure holds a balanced scales and a large feather quill. Around herb butterflies flutter. At he forehead a swirl is marked in the position of her third eye, indicating the practice of wisdom and insight.

The Justice card represents important decisions that need to be made bringing an attitude of responsibility to attention. The pros and cons need to be carefully weighed with fairness and a cool objectivity, especially where entering some kind of contract or official agreement.

There may be a feeling of pressure and indecision when taking bold new actions that require the stepping up to new responsibilities. The butterflies remind us to take things lightly and encourage us to move forward in ways that help us grow and transform into something greater and more beautiful, like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.

Rely on a clear mind, the aligned head and heart, and the wise higher self for guidance. You may want to take some time out in a peaceful place to release any confusion, and to gather your thoughts and resolve for the journey ahead.

Know that you are never alone in your choices. Companions and guides are there to support your journey and help you with the decisions you must take, but in the end the choices are yours to make and no one but you truly knows what is best and right for you. Follow your heart and wisdom eye and you cannot make a wrong decision.

A Herbal Remedy for Mental Clarity
~ Rosemary ~

'Rosemary for remembrance' goes the old saying. This aromatic herb is rich in stimulating and energising essential oils. Its warming aroma helps us to wake up and feel more alert. It's often included in herb mixes where mental clarity and concentration is called on, such a demanding project or where a fuzzy mind or forgetfulness is an issue.

Named Rosmarinus in Latin, St. Mary's Rose, its blue coloured flowers also have a connection with Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, also offering the support of the divine feminine for those who are inspired. Rosemary also has a connection to the third eye chakra area of wisdom, intuition and insight, which is assigned the colour of dark blue.

Enjoy this herb fresh or dried in teas, or carry a fresh spring to sniff often to help give yourself a mental boost, feeling invigorated and clear to take the essential next steps forward.

New Moon Equinox Solar Eclipse Herbal Tarot Card 3

New Moon Equinox Solar Eclipse Herbal Tarot

You chose XXI The World

In this card a powerful female figure in green stands in her lush grotto, gazing into a large crystal ball. This is the final card, no 21 in the series of Major Arcana Tarot cards, representing a full circle, a sense of completion, achievement, coming to the end of a long journey and the integration of lessons learned. There is a strong sense of peace and wisdom in this card. This figure is protected by her green nest with her window out to the universe. She literally has the world at her fingertips.

With the wisdom, accomplishment and learning she has gained from the many ups and downs of her life journey, she has the benefit of experience and a wider perspective giving her the freedom to dream up new visions and potential to initiate new journeys and projects from a place of empowerment. She naturally inspires those around her who admire her for everything she had managed to achieve through her own initiatives.

This is a good time to distill and reflect on your journey so far. Take the time to allow for new possibilities and purpose to emerge. It's time to use your acquired skills and experience in a new creative way and demonstrating your capabilities as a trail blazing leader, even just by following your own way and shining through your example.

It's time to stop, congratulate and celebrate yourself. Start dreaming for what might lie ahead for you and to bring the benefits of your experience to the world in a new way. Your journey has been truly inspiring and will lead the way to something new and even greater still.

A Herbal Remedy for Grounding Celebration
~ Lemon Verbena ~

This lovely citrus fragranced herb has a refreshing and energising flavour that brings cheer and optimism. It promotes balance with its digestive warming and nervous system calming properties. It brings a sense of celebration with its reviving effects.

It's a perfect herbal tea to enjoy while taking the time to review the previous cycle, learning from it, bringing it to closure, and contemplating what these experiences may bring to the next cycle with a grounded sense of excitement of all the possibilities and wonders that lie ahead.
